Broker Comments

“Rhea of Nyborg” has been a successful charter vessel in the East Mediterranean under the present owner/skipper for 30 years, but family and other commitments have led to less time chartering and the decision to sell this unique vessel. During these years, Rhea has been based in Turkey, where there is a continuing tradition of wooden boat building. This has meant that there has been the availability of wood, materials, and skilled labour to help maintain Rhea and keep her in fine and strong condition.

Rhea was built as a topsail schooner (without an engine) and she was used to carry stone and rock in harsh conditions, hence she was built to be an exceptionally strong sailing vessel handled by a small crew.

Rhea was recommissioned in 1989/90 and has been regularly maintained since then.  This has included significant work on different areas of the vessel as and when required. (i.e. in the winter of 2016/17 the foredeck and cross beams were renewed from the stem to aft of the sampson post, plus other works )

A fully survey is available.  Rhea is in excellentt condition and carries a large comprehensive selection of tools, spare parts, etc.,.

There is a spacious saloon with a lounging area, beautiful teak dining table, navigation area, and 7kg washing machine (hidden in a wooden box)..

The galley has a double sink, domestic gas cooker, fridge, freezer & microwave.

The four guest cabins each have air conditioning plus en-suite toilet, shower and handbasin. The aft cabin has a double and single bunk, the focs'le has a double and 'pullman' single, and the port and starboard cabins can be either doubles (sliding the bunks to a wider position) or twins (using pullman singles). The two crew cabins each have en-suite toilet, shower and hand-basin. They are doubles with pullman singles.

Rhea's large deck area offers ample space for sunbathing on full length mattresses, and the use of sun awnings and sails gives the choice of shade. The dinghy isn't being sold along.
